Discover the history and beauty of Tewkesbury Abbey, a magnificent medieval abbey with lovely grounds.

Located in Gloucester, this museum focuses on the history of aviation and has several aircraft on display, including some that you can sit in.
Soldiers of Gloucestershire Museum
A fascinating museum dedicated to the history of the Gloucestershire Regiment, with exhibits that are interesting for both adults and children.
The Wilson – Cheltenham Art Gallery & Museum
Spend a day exploring the exhibits at The Wilson, which include art, history, and temporary exhibitions suitable for all ages.
Outdoor Adventures
Cotswold Wildlife Park & Gardens
A bit further afield, but worth the trip, the Cotswold Wildlife Park offers a fantastic day out with a wide variety of animals, beautiful gardens, and plenty of space for kids to run around.
An enchanting ancient woodland in the Forest of Dean, Puzzlewood is a magical place that has inspired many films and TV series. It’s great for adventurous walks and exploring nature.
Perrygrove Railway & Treetop Adventure
Located in the Forest of Dean, this attraction features a narrow-gauge railway, a treasure hunt, and a treetop adventure area.
Enjoy a day at this historic open-air swimming pool in Cheltenham. With heated pools, children’s areas, and plenty of space for picnics, it’s a perfect spot for family fun during the warmer months.
For a bit of adventure, Go Ape offers treetop rope courses and zip lines suitable for all ages.
Explore the underground caves in the Forest of Dean, where you can learn about the history of mining in the area.
Parks and Nature Reserves
Enjoy a walk and some great views over Gloucester and the surrounding countryside from the top of Robinswood Hill.
Part of the Cotswold Way, Crickley Hill offers stunning views and plenty of walking trails.
Explore the enchanting Westonbirt Arboretum, a perfect family day out with beautiful tree collections, family-friendly trails, and seasonal events for all to enjoy. (Note: this is also my favourite venue for outdoor photoshoots in the Autumn!)
Rainy Day Activities
Located in Gloucester, this indoor climbing centre offers a variety of climbing walls for all skill levels. It’s a great way to burn off energy indoors.
Indoor Adventure Centres
There are several soft play centres around Gloucester, such as Funky Warehouse, Ninja Warrior and Jumpin Fun, where the whole family can run, jump, and play safely indoors.
The Sherborne is a charming, independent cinema in Gloucester that offers a cozy and unique movie-going experience. It’s a great place to catch the latest family films in a relaxed atmosphere.
Head to Tenpin Gloucester for a fun-filled day of bowling, arcade games, and even laser tag.
