Wall Art: Helping you to make the right decision

Have you ever wondered what happens after your portrait photography session? A few weeks after your photoshoot, you’ll be invited back for your Reveal and Order appointment, which will normally take place in the comfort of the studio but might also happen virtually using Zoom if you’ve travelled a long way for your photographs and can’t make it in-person. The Reveal and Order appointment is your opportunity to see and fall in love with your photographs for the very first time and to choose the package and/or products that you would like to buy.

Although my packages come with digital images as standard, I am passionate about making sure that your photographs are printed and proudly displayed in your home. After all, what’s the point in paying good money for a professional photographer only for your photographs to get lost on a hard drive somewhere? Despite our best intentions, printing and framing our photographs often becomes yet another job on the to-do list which falls further and further down the priority list with every coming day. So, for that very reason, I include complementary mounted prints with the vast majority of my packages as well as offering beautiful pieces of wall art that will look great in every home.

My role at your Reveal and Order appointment is not to try and sell you the biggest package and the largest (and most expensive!) piece of wall art that I can; my role is to help you to make the right decision. I hate pressure sales and, after experiencing that for myself in a photography studio right here in Gloucestershire, I vowed that I would never leave that same bad taste in my own clients’ mouths. And whether you spend £500 or £5000, I’ll be leaving that appointment with a clear conscience because I’ll know that the choices you made were entirely your own.

Taking the guesswork away

I have tried my best to make your buying decision as easy as it can possibly be and one of the main ways I do this is by using a special piece of software that enables me to show you exactly how your photographs will look in your home. This takes away the guesswork when buying frames for your home and means you can leave the appointment with absolute confidence that you’ve made the right purchase for you and your family.

In order to give you this peace of mind, however, I do first need a bit of help from you. You’ll receive full instructions on what you need to do but, essentially, I need some photographs of the space (including the surroundings) along with something that I can use for scale, such as an A4 piece of paper. It doesn’t need to be anything fancy; simple snapshots from your phone are all we need to be able to get the most from your session.

View and Order Preparation

Having these images will allow me to mock up your photographs in various different sizes and layouts and provide you with some inspiration about what could be possible in your home. During your session you’ll be able to fully customise the shape, size and style of your pieces until you’re 100% happy with the pieces that you’ve chosen. Are you moving or redecorating? Don’t worry! I can show you how certain styles and size of wall art will look great in any home. Have a look at these photographs which show the mocked-up images and the final product on the walls of these clients’ homes.

It’s pretty impressive right? Check out this comparison which shows just how accurate the sizing is:

This client commented: ‘Without the ability to view the art in the house, and left to our own devices, we’d have ended up with lots of smaller pictures – making the house looking like some kind of shrine – or a bigger print, which would have been overbearing. The whole result is that we don’t just have amazing pictures, but we have amazing pictures which suit our home, and can be displayed proudly.’

Easing the bank balance

One of the other ways that I make your buying decision easier is to offer payment plans. Lots of clients take the opportunity to break their purchase down into smaller, more manageable payments. Because, let’s face it, the wall art I offer isn’t cheap. But it is the best that you can get. The vast majority of my pieces are archival quality meaning that they meet the standards to be displayed on the walls of a museum. This means that you’re not just buying photographs for your home, but pieces of art that are unique to your family and can truly become the most precious family heirlooms. (Not to mention the time and energy you’ll save by buying pieces that are provided to you ready to hang. Zero faff = a win in my book!)

Fantastic experience! I took my family for a shoot with Katie & she was amazing from start to finish. My toddler was a terror and my daughter a diva but some how she worked her magic and we have beautiful digital photos, prints and a lovely big frame for the wall. We had a lovely viewing where we were able to select the photos we wanted, we couldn’t possibly chose from them so we bought them all! 🙂 She made us all feel very welcome and my children and even my husband enjoyed the experience. Highly recommend! I will be back for more photos as my family grow. Thank you Katie
